Benjamin Donsky is a singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist living in New York City.

He began playing coffeehouses in San Francisco at age 15 (in 1996) and has since performed countless times at bars and festivals in San Francisco, Providence, central New Jersey, and New York City.

He's been acclaimed as "a new breed of songwriter" who combines the American roots tradition with modern influences and dark, satirical overtones. or, more simply, someone "who thinks folk music should be funny."

He released one EP, Positive Messages, in 2002, and a full-length, self-titled CD with his Village Voice-acclaimed band Big Dictator in 2006 (recently the subject of a one-hour documentary on Fat Cat Radio). Scheduled for release in 2007 are Donsky Live, compiled from performances in Providence, Rhode Island and New Brunswick, New Jersey; and, his first full-length solo album, Rock and Roll Jew.

Donsky currently performs as a solo artist in the anti-folk "tradition" with various supporting musicians, based in New York City.
